Growth Form: perennial tree/shrub (1,2) Grows to 25 feet (4)

Stem: bark is brown, scaly (2,4) trunk to 1 foot in diameter (4)
Leaves: opposite, simple, linear or narrowly lanceolate, 6 to 12 inches long, ½ inch wide or less, entire margin, deciduous, glabrous, sometimes sticky (2), light green, untoothed (4)
Inflorescence/flowers: Flowers perfect, trumpet-like, white with some purple ¾ to 1 ½ inches wide (2)
Fruit: capsule, slender, 7 to 12 inches long and ¼ inch wide (2)
