Route 66-iana:
Route 66 Resources
Listed below are Route 66 pages
relevant to
research materials available at the Cline Library, NAU, or that I
have authored for various classes, lectures, or projects. I will
apologize in advance for
any inaccuracies or errors.
Riordan
Mansion Lectures:
Here
are a few web pages created for the Riordan
Mansion brown-bag lunch lecture series:
- Route 66 and Northern Arizona
presented June 13, 2000.
- History of the Padre Canyon Bridge
on Route 66 presented July 10, 2001.
- Route 66 as American History?
presented June 11, 2002.
- Route 66 in Arizona, 1926- Present
presented July 8, 2003.
- Route 66 as Representation of the American
Frontier presented July 13, 2004.
- Route 66: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow
presented June 14, 2005. This lecture was slighlty altered and
presented to a Senior Summer School program on
September 16, 2005.
- Route 66: Remembering the "Mother Road" -
Libraries, Publishing and Route 66 was presented July 11,
2006
Other
Lectures:
Next is a
page that is an outgrowth of some of the Riordan
lectures. The title of the session is Route 66 as American
History? : A State of the Historiography and Bibliography of Route 66.
It
was presented at ASU West to the University Career Women at one of
their
lunch time meetings on October 24, 2002.
Other
Publications and Web Pages:
First
is a page created in support of an English 105 class entitled Route 66 for
Researchers.
This page
is useful because it lists virtually all
of the material
directly about Route 66 held at the Cline Library. As mentioned above,
most of this material can be checked out or used at the library, or is
available via the
Cline Library Document Delivery Services office. In this page is
a link
to a page entitled A
Brief History of
Route
66. While
this was created for the same ENG 105 class, it still
embodies
much of where current Route 66 studies are at.
You
may look at a full research paper which grew out of the ENG 105
instruction
session entitled
Arizona
Route 66 History as Found in Federal and State Publications.
While
this paper was created for a library school class a few of years
back,
it will be somewhat useful for those with general interest regarding
Arizona
Route 66, and one day it may
get
expanded and updated.
Be
sure to check out Route 66 images, maps, oral histories and documents
at the Cline Library's Digital
Archives
site.
