Trichord (a) is prime and has the following characteristics:
Retrogrades of (a) will put the interval of the 3rd AFTER the interval of the 2nd.
- The interval of the 3rd comes FIRST (time delineated)
- The interval of the 2nd is at the top of the texture (atemporal)
Inversions of (a) will put the interval of the 2nd at the BOTTOM of the texture.
As the name implies, Retrograde-Inversions of (a) will manifest both characteristics of Retrograde and Inversion.
