Objectives:
1. List reasons why a thorough literature review is necessary for a successful
research or public health project.
2. Provide a critical evaluation of a given research article using the criteria
outlined in the reading.
3. List several computer databases appropriate for conducting a literature search
on a health related topic.
4. Demonstrate the use of the Internet as a resource in conducting a research
project.
5. Differentiate between primary and secondary sources.
6. Develop library skills necessary to produce a thorough review of the literature
on a given topic.
7. Identify the parts of a research article.
8. Identify various types of articles including: research, review, case study,
historical, descriptive.
