NOVICE MODELER WORKSHOP SERIES
Getting started in model railroading, 2005

WHERE AND WHEN?

  • All workshops will be held at Northland Hobbies at Kachina Square, Flagstaff. Corner of Route 66 and Steves Blvd. on the east side of town.
  • Saturday mornings, 10:30 - 11:30. Once a month, see schedule below.
  • No RSVP Required. Just show up. Attendance at all workshops not necessary.

SCHEDULE AND TOPICS:

  • April 16: Getting Started: Building a small layout, table prep and benchwork.
  • May 7: Laying the Track: tips to keep the trains running.
  • June 11: Track and Wiring: Basic electrical skills, intro to Digital Command Control
  • July 9: Scenery Basics: Scenery base, hardshell, ballasting track.
  • August 6: Making it look good: Scenery of trees, buildings, and ground foam techniques.
  • September 10: Trains and Operations: Model locomotives and cars, care and maintenance.

ADVANCED MODELER WORKSHOPS:

A similar series of workshops for more experienced model railroaders will be held on the same days as above, immediately following the novice series (11:30-12:30). Novices are welcome to watch at no charge. A small fee will be charged for those experienced folks who wish to participate in these workshops. Topics will vary from month to month depending on interest and availability of workshop leaders.
