Vicki is the Yuma local coordinator for the Alternative Certification Program. http://www.coe.nau.edu/student_services/alt_cert_yuma_el.php   The program allows people with a bachelor’s degree to obtain teacher certification in as little as four semesters. Prospective students may apply and begin each semester. The program has been successful in meeting Yuma’s high need for quality educators at the elementary and middle school level.

Vicki is both an instructor and a doctoral student. She has taught in Yuma fourteen years and loves teaching math and science! As an ESL endorsed educator, Vicki most enjoys helping students improve their academic language through math and science strategies and hands-on learning. The combination of math, science, and language is the focus of Vicki’s doctoral studies.

Vicki is often out in the local schools observing her students as they teach their classes and providing mentored feedback.

In addition to the line up of courses for the Alt. Cert. Program, Vicki provides  math workshops  for area teachers on using hands-on manipulatives and math process skills.
