Announcement from Master Charles of the J.A.C.s, Atenveldt Siege Marshal
And sponsor of the second annual Siege Engine Contest

As part of the Estrella-2000 War.

PRIZE: Just like last year the prize will be a medallion containing a
               One (1) once gold coin.

RULES:

Please note these rules are for the Winning of the Known World Siege Engine contest and must not be assumed to be rules for participating in the Estrella
War fighting scenarios.  These rules are much more stringent than those to just participate in the war are.

1- The winning engine must participate in Baron Otto's Siege Engine Contest Tourney.  It does not have to win but it must physically survive this
contest. This is also where the Royals and Earl Marshals will make a decision as to the acceptability of each engine. And how to "fairly" split them up
with each army. Winning engine Please note that by the treaty this contest and inspection must take place on Thursday, since Friday will be a day of
armored combat war point scenario fighting.

2-The winning engine must fight in each and every scenario where siege is allowed.  If the engine "breaks" in one scenario it must be repaired and
inspected before the start of the next scenario-allowing siege.   One main goal of this contest is to encourage the construction of robust combat ready
engines.

3- it must be built, fought, and use ammunition in accordance with our new SCA wide siege rules, under discussion on this list.  I want to encourage
this single set of SCA worldwide rules.

4- It must appear, to the casual observe, to be reasonably authentic looking and to be reasonably authentic powered.  I want to encourage as much
authenticity as is reasonable in all SCA combat.

5-Last years winning engine can not win again this year, unless it has been significantly modified.  I want to encourage more engineers to participate.

6-The winning engine must fire ammunition of at lest the four (4) Tennis Ball class.  No single tennis ball nor combat archery ammunition class engines can
win.  My goal is to encourage heavy siege combat not just "normal" missile combat.

7-The criterion for winning, must be a combination of war fighting effectiveness, crowd appeal, and authenticity. The winning engine will be
determined, immediately after the last war point scenario, in consultation with, the captains of each siege crew and the Siege and/or Missile combat
Marshals for any attending kingdom.  Any kingdom that want's to have say should see me some time at the war.  If consensus can not be readily reached
I will make the final call.  This is my contest and I alone provide the prize so I reserve this, final decision, power to my self.
