The champion's prize shall be a blown glass piccolo (key of C).
The winner will be decided by the autocrat of the competition (myself) and several members of the Knights of St. Michael. Decisions shall be made based on quality of performance (judges response), period feel/sound (no colloquialisms or modern slang/manners of speech), and entertainment value (based on audience response). It is important to note that "audience response" does not necessarily mean "most applause." If the piece is a tearjerker...we expect tears. If it is the type that leaves the listener just going..."wow...." and looking stunned then that is what we'll be looking for. The intent is not necessarily to be 100% period but to show off the talent of the composer/performer and to be entertaining without having a modern feel that removes the illusion of a medieval bardic competition. In other words, we're looking for period or periodesque pieces.
All who wish to attend are invited to do so.
Crystal Fruit Filk Competition
This year will see the second annual Crystal Fruit Filk Competition. This tourney is a filk competition for those looking for something a bit looser and just an overall good time. The prize will be a fruit shaped glass decanter filled with some of Lady Cailin’s homemade Blueberry Brandy.... and believe me, it’s fabulous! The filk competition will be immediately following the Crystal Flute Bardic.
There will be a sideboard of finger foods and drinks (soft and hard... including homemade liqueors and some of Seamus's home brew). Please feel free to add to the sideboard and don't forget to bring your mug!
See you there!

Autocrat for Crystal Flute/Fruit Competitions
Bard of the Sun
The Knowne World Cook's Party shall be held in the Warrior Haven enclave
within the SunDragon Baronial Encampment. (Look for a Manticore,
sable, upon
a field Or, ermined gules.) from 5 PM until Main Court. Anyone
may attend,
provided they bring a documentably period dish enough to feed eight
persons.
The reason for the party is for an excuse for the Cooks of the SCA-Cooks
e-mail list to get together and meet, but all who considers themselves
cooks
may join us.
The tournament will be open to all white scarves or equivalent awards in other kingdoms . The tournament will be a double elimination. Kingdom of Atenvelt rapier rules will be used. However if the two participants, who are paired up to fight one another, wish to fight under a different kingdom rules it will be allowed as long as they inform the marshall before the "lay on". It is hoped that this will give a chance for the white scarf community to show off their talents and knowledge. To promote this there will be several prizes awarded. One will be for the winner of the tourney; other prizes will be awarded to the person who fights in the most period style, best or prettiest kill, and best death.
This is a single elimination stick tourney. Following the Atenveldt
rules of rapier combat the tourney will pit members of the company against
the acadamy to determine the superior training procedures. It is
stick and usually lasts about 30 45 minutes. All persons entering
the list shall be asked to declare for either the company or the acadamy
style of training. The differences in styles will be presented before
the tourney starts.
