Fencing in the SCA is a wide field that ranges from fighting with
foils in a quasi historical venue in costuming to the pratice of historical
technique using reasonable approximations of the types of weapons used
at the time. The purpose of this page is to give you links to pertinent

called sidesword. Sidesword combat (also known as edge-sword) predates
rapier combat and is a more appropriate fighting style for rapier fencers
in the SCA as the sidesword was used from the beginning of the 16th C till
almost its close and the rapier combat as done in the SCA is primarily
