Overview of Food Service Industry

The foodservice industry is vast and a major contributor in the U.S. economy. The purpose of this module is to have you investigate the scope of the industry, the growth areas for the future. We we also look at the types of ownership available to food service operators as well as why people choose to own/operate a food service operation.


Objectives: Upon completion of this module you will be able to: Define the scope of the foodservice industry in relation to other industries in the country. Identify the growth areas in the food service industry. Compare and contrast the various forms of business ownership. Describe some of the reasons people give for owning and operating food service operations.
