This book describes a remarkable journey: an annual cross-country motorcycle pilgrimage by Vietnam veterans to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (the Wall) in Washington, D.C. This journey, the Run for the Wall, is termed a "healing pilgrimage" by its participants, a pilgrimage in which they seek to heal the wounds of the Vietnam war and its aftermath, and the reconstruction of the memory of that war in which the Run for the Wall plays an important point.
