1. Organisms must obey physical and chemical laws. Name and define one of these laws, explain how it is ecologically relevant, and describe how an organism has successfully adapted to it.

2. Nitrogen and phosphorus are the two inorganic nutrients most often identified as the ones limiting biological production. What conditions (environmental factors) affect the availability (and, thus, the limitations) of these nutrients in aquatic and terrestrial systems?

3. Boundary layers affect energy and gas transfers. What is a boundary layer? How does it affect energy and gas transfers? What environmental condition(s) would make a boundary layer no longer relevant for an organism?
