Scanning Graphics with the HP ScanJet IIc Scanner

1. Under the Apple menu, choose Applications, and select ScanJet IIc

2. The DeskScan utility will open...

3. Choose the Type of image you will be scanning (color photo, b&w drawing, etc.) from the first menu.

4. Choose the Path of the image. In other words, what will you do with the graphic? Do you want to display it on Screen (this would be the case for internet graphics or powerpoint presentations), or print it in color (to an Inkjet printer) or black and white (to a laser printer)?

5. Adjust Brightness, Contrast and Scale as needed. If you don't change them, the default settings are used.

6. Click the Preview button to take a quick look at the image.

7. Drag a rectangle around the piece of the image that you want to scan.

8. Click the Final button to perform a high quality scan of the image.

9. A dialog box will ask how and where you want to save the file...

10. Choose a File Format: PICT for Mac or TIFF for PC. Where it says Untitled, give the file a name and then click Save.

11. If you need to create an Internet graphic (a GIF or JPG file), use the program Graphic Converter to convert your image from PICT or TIFF format.
