Brief IntroductionOne of the primary goals of the Bones and Stones Curriculum Project at Flagstaff High School is to ensure that the tenth grade bicultural student becomes an acceptable member of the dominant society while also maintaining and empowering ALL students concerning their traditional upbringing. A bicultural student must learn how to live within the norms of the dominant culture while also deciding if they want to maintain or abandon their own cultural identity. Moreover, a student representing the dominant society needs to learn how
to respect their peers regardless of their ethnic background. The Bones and Stones Curriculum Project not only integrate but also deliver lessons that help the ALL students identify themselves with their own culture. Consequently, that student is taught to set goals and obtain power and self-identity that ultimately encourages lifelong learning and gives that child a true sense of purpose in life.
