1. How is it that other animals have "fish" in their common name, e.g., silverfish, shellfish, and jellyfish? 1 point.

2. Class Cephalaspidomorphi: Discuss how the parasitic forms induce blood to flow from the wound created on another fish. What does anadromous mean? Compare anadromous and catadromous. Give examples to strengthen your answer. 3 points.

3. Explain the evidence that caused scientists to state that the Class Chondrichthyes was derived from bony ancestors. 1 point.

4. Using figure 27-12, describe differences and similarities between skates and rays. 1 point.

5. What does a swim bladder provide for fish that have one? Since sharks do not have a swim bladder, what organ of their bodies serves a similar purpose? 1 point.

6. What is thought to be the origin of chimaeras? Chimaeras appear to be a mix between sharks and bony fish. Explain this last statement and support your answer with examples. 1 point.

7. How did the evolution of an operculum increase the efficiency of the respiratory system? 1 point.
