Hyperparathyroidism

Etiology

Excessive secretion of parathyroid hormone

Primary=may be due to hyperplasia or tumor of parathyroid glands

Secondary=caused by renal disease and vitamin D deficiency

Predilection

Usually adults

 

 

 

 

 

Location

Systemic disease

 

 

 

 

Clinical Appearance

Joint pain, stiffness, lethargy

Loosing of teeth

 

 

 

Radiographic Features

Well-circumscribed bone lesions, changes in trabeculation, partial loss of lamina dura

 

Treatment

Dependent upon cause
