Interests: Hispanic American Narrative, Gabriel García Márquez, Contemporary Central American Narrative and Literary Translation. My publications include: La ficción de Gabriel García Márquez: repetición e intertextualidad, 1993, El corneta by Roberto Castillo (student edition), 1996, articles, interviews and reviews. Recent work includes translations of several Central American novels: Rosario Aguilar, The Lost Chronicles of Terra Firma, White Pine Press, 1997; Manlio Argueta,Little Red Riding Hood in the Red Light District, Curbstone Press, 1998; Mario Roberto Morales, Face of the Earth, Heart of the Sky, Bilingual Press, 1999; Roberto Castillo, The Bugler, University Press of America, 2000.   I am currently working on several translations ("Caracol and Other Stories" by Enrique Jaramillo Levi, "The Dossier" by Linda Berrón (with Mayela Vallejos), "Loose Cannons"  by Mario Roberto Morales, and "The Life of a Ghost Town" by William Lemus) and a critical study of Gabriel García Márquez's journalistic writings.
