Objective & Contracts
You just
completed the pretest, so you have a fair idea of what you know and what
you find challenging. The Hyman text is set up as a series of chapters
to help you explore readings, ideas and authorities in each of the philosophies
of discipline.
These are the objectives for the module:
- Define
words and concepts associated with the behavioral frame of reference.
- Recognize
appropriate Behavioral measurement strategies for gathering data on
student performance.
- Develop
and write out a Behavior Change Contract for a student.
- Identify
and explain six or more strategies for strengthening behaviors.
- Identify
and explain six or more strategies for weakening behaviors.
- Develop
components of a discipline program that provide supportive, preventive
and corrective techniques using the Behavioral frame of reference.
- Using
a behavior contract format, set up a personal change project and monitor
personal progress, using data collecting techniques. Report findings
at the conclusion and relate them to discipline program changes.
- Begin
by skimming through Chapter Three in the Hyman text, finding the pattern
the author uses to increase understanding of concepts and the rather
interesting examples and case studies used to add depth and enrichment.
Some of the most difficult examples of student misbehaviors are presented,
with solutions and ideas for treatment and prevention.
- Next look
at print out the assignments for the module. Feel free to adapt suggested
activities and evaluations to get a good fit between your needs and
the course objectives.
- If changes
are needed to enhance your learning experience, send a copy to the instructor
for approval.
- Enjoy
the course!
