Use the button above to go into your group in WebCT. Work on the following with your group.

1) Discuss insights you have about discipline philosophies. Use the following questions to focus your discussion:

If you focus on content, what happens?
If you focus on the needs and rights of the teacher, what changes?
When the student is the focus of the classroom, what is it like?
Have you seen or been in a classroom that was student focused?
    What grade level?
    How did it affect you?
Are you interested in trying it?
Are there subjects that lend themselves to this type of environment?
Does this equate with the idea of teacher as facilitator?
Does it explain the idea of teacher moving from "sage on the stage" to "guide on the side?"
Have you ever been in a multi-age classroom? Was it primarily student focused?

2. Discuss issues and/or students who are worrisome--"I just don't understand this kid." Be sure to protect student anonymity by changing the name or using initials.

3. Work with your classmates on assignments.

Working in the WebCT adds 50 points to your grade, every time you network and share ideas with others taking this class. Please keep a record, and at the end of the class, submit the dates you participated and a tally of points as part of the self evaluation process
