What is the intended coverage? Worldwide, regional, or specific to a particular topic?
What is the indexing like? Comprehensive?
Is the source up-to-date? Try looking up a country that has changed names recently.
Is the legend (explanation of symbols, scale,etc) readable?
If the source is a gazetteer, what pieces of information does it provide
about places? Population? Elevation? Longitude/Latitude? Other?
