Objective: Articulate your own writer's context.

Please use the following questions as a guide. Do not answer each question. Please write your paper as you believe an academic paper should be.

How do you approach writing? Are rules important for you? Do you have an idea what your grade will be before you submit your work, or do you write, hand in your paper, and wait to see what the grade will be?How do you approach writing assignments in your discipline as opposed to an English course? If you're an English major, how do you approach a paper in a literature course from a creative writing, or a rhetoric course? What do you believe your disiciplinary professor's want from writing? How important are grammar, punctuation, and formatting for your disciplinary professors? How do you know what your professors are looking for? What sorts of comments and grades do you usually get about your writing? Do you write for class as you might write to a friend? Why or why not? Overall, what do you believe you will need to learn to become a better writer?
