Brief Biography:

I received my B.A. in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1979, but I did not enter graduate school until 1988. In that 10 year interim, I was a public school teacher, a multi-media producer and a medical education specialist. I received both my Masters (1990) and Doctorate (1995) Degrees in Justice Studies from Arizona State University. While attending graduate school I taught courses about research and law at ASU-Tempe and Ottawa University-Phoenix.
I currently teach CJ 301: Critical Perspectives and
Justice Studies, CJ 355: Introduction to Research Methods, CJ 610: Qualitative
Research Methods and CJ 360: Women, Crime and Justice. I have taught Introduction to the Criminal Justice System, Law In America, Crime Justice and the Internet,
Justice in the 21st Century, Quantitative Research and Introduction to Applied
Statistics. I am a member of the CJ
graduate faculty, an NAU Women's Studies affiliate,
and the NAU President's 2001 Outstanding Social and Behavioral Science Teacher.
I have published on the topics of sexual harassment, women's litigation, online
gender conflict, victim/crime worker relationships, and the Lautenberg
Amendment. I
completed research for ASU's Commission on the Status of Women, the State Bar of
Arizona's Gay and Lesbian Task Force and the Epiphany Youth Education Task
Force. I am currently developing a visual studies research project
entitled "When Words Are Not Enough."
I was born and raised in North Carolina I lived in South Phoenix for 10 years and for the past 10 I have called Flagstaff my home.
