Competition for the Hyatt Regency Phoenix is from those downtown hotels that are attractive to the same market segments that the Hyatt pursues. A common mistake is to believe that any surrounding hotel is "competition," however, only those market segments that might be attracted to other hotels classifies these hotels as true competitors.
The Hyatt Regency Hotel is one of two major "convention" hotels in the downtown Phoenix area which attract "conventions." There are other smaller hotels which do serve as "overflow" for major meetings and also may be considered "competition for small meetings. The following shows surveyed competitors:
