 CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE MEETING:
Certified Professional Counselors, Social Workers, and Substance Abuse Counselors take note:  some major certification-to-licensure changes are coming down the pike, and being out of touch with these can be costly.  Here's a way to keep in touch:  Debra Rinaudo, the Executive Director of the AZ Board of Behavioral Health Examiners (BBHE), the credentialing body that oversees/monitors these professions, is offering a second Town Hall Meeting for Yuma area counselors.  Ms. Rinaudo, along with a panel of BBHE certification specialists, will present on October 31st from noon till late afternoon by Interactive TV from Phoenix to Yuma in order to acquaint counselors with the impending changes from certification to licensure.  If you're not aware of these upcoming modifications, this is a great opportunity. From noon to 1:30, the BBHE team will provide a detailed overview of the new licensure law and its ramifications.  After a short break, the team will then field questions from any and all individuals about their particular certification/licensure issues.  They've offered to stay with us until all questions are answered.  The event will take place at NAU-Yuma in the first floor of the Academic Complex, in AC 116.  Please RSVP at 317-6450 with Sarai or Rosy.

Statewide Arizona Counseling Association meetings have begun to be held on interactive TV, sponsored by NAU, and connecting Flagstaff, Phoenix, Yuma, and Tucson.

TRAININGS here in Yuma?
VIA the NAU Interactive TV system, it's possible for a nationally known trainer to provide cutting-edge workshops for continuing ed. Credits to us right here in Yuma.  The workshop can be held at NAU-Phx, but visible via interactive TV to Yuma area counselors in a way that visually and auditorially connects the speaker with all participants in both sites.  NAU has contacted Bill O'Hanlon, reknowned author, Ericksonian-oriented Solution-Focused Therapist about providing a daylong training to us on trauma-recovery therapies.  If we were able to get 25 attendees in Phx, and 25 here in Yuma, the costs would run in the neighborhood of $100 for the day.  See his site at <http://brieftherapy.com/> .  Or, take a look at   <http://www.stephengilligan.com/> .
Please contact <pit.kolodinsky@nau.edu> by October 15th to let me know if you'd be interested in attending:
… an O'Hanlon led workshop
… a Gilligan workshop
… any other ideas?
