Las casas hispanas

Introduction/ Introducción

Introduction: Did you have a t.v. and telephone in your bedroom growing up? Did you share a room?  How many rooms did your house have? Was there more than one bathroom? As we all know, not every country shares the same living style. Let’s find out more about the traditional home in various Latin American countries.

Introducción: ¿Qué tenía tu casa durante tu niñez? ¿Tu alcoba tenía un televisor y un teléfono? ¿Cuántas habitaciones tenía tu casa? ¿Había más de un baño? Como sabemos, no todos los países tienen el mismo estilo de vivir. Vamos a aprender más sobre las casas del mundo hispano

Assignment / Trabajo

Each student will work individually on this project. You will interview a person who is from, or has lived for an extended amount of time, in a Spanish speaking country. This person may be a friend of yours, a person you work with, or even a professor in the department (there are many foreign professors at NAU)! Find out about their houses in that country! Maybe they even have pictures of their house. Compare their house to your house growing up. What are the similarities? What are the differences?

Cada estudiante va a trabajar individualmente en su trabajo. Vas a hacer una entrevista con una persona que ha vivido o es de un país donde se habla español. Esta persona puede ser un amigo, un compañero de trabajo o un profesor. Pregúntale sobre su casas de allí. Es posible que tengan fotos. Compara su casa con tu casa. ¿Hay similitudes? ¿Hay diferencias?

Process/Proceso

1) Write a list of questions in Spanish that may be used in the interview. Use interrogative words plus vocabulary of the house. Examples:

¿Cuántas televisiones hay en la casa de tus padres?

¿Cuántas personas duermen en una alcoba?

¿De qué color son las paredes?

¿Los pisos tienen alfombras?

¿Cuántos baños tiene la casa?

Etc.

Write at least 10 questions.

2) Find a friend or acquaintance who has lived or is from a Spanish speaking county.

2) Interview them using your questions as a guide. Encourage them to add any additiona information that may be interesting.

3) Write a summary of your interview comparing your house with your friend’s house.

Example:

 Mi casa tiene 2 pisos. La casa de “Juan” tiene un piso. Hay 4 televisores en mi casa. Hay _____ televisores en la casa de “Juan.” Etc.

4) As a class we will discuss the similarities and difference between the houses we grew up in and the houses of our friends from other countries.
