Snow fall in winter is critical as the spring months are dry. June is one of the driest months of the year and has warm temperatures and winds that dessicate.

March Snow. Some of the heaviest snow storms are in March and April. Soils tend to be thin here and mulching with organic matter in the fall gives plants a boost in the spring.


Summer 2004. Plant growth is slow because the night temps are cool in the summer.
Summer: Bee Plants, Hummingbirds, cool nights, and long sunny days.
First snow of October - Agassiz Peak from our front yard with Aspens in fall color.

June, 2001. Prince Hairy takes time out from terrorizing the small wildlife to pose on the back patio with roses and evergreen shrubs. June, 2001. The small pond and waterfall take on a Monet attitude in late afternoon.
Pan and bunny Fall 99 - front yard. Summer rains (beginning in July) produce a bumper crop of flowers in August.

Forest fires are frightening and occur every summer. The fact that they renew the forests doesn't make them less dreaded. June 12, 1995 - the day that we looked at the house and put in an offer.
