This conference looked at the long-term history of a neglected area of the world from many viewpoints and bridges work across borders and cultures. Art historians, archaeologists, anthropologists, historians, ethnohistorians, ethnobotanists, and ecologists met with members of the Hopi Tribe, the Huichol, Tarahumara, Yaqui, and Seri. The following abstracts represent presentations by indigenous farmers from both sides of the border and a team of internationally renowned scholars about native views of climate, hydrology, ecology, agriculture, ethnobotany, cosmology, and human roles in stewardship of the earth.
