Types of Languages in Arizona Schools

These are the home languages identified by the Arizona State Department of Education. It is important to note that within these languages, dialects are not identified. For example, there are many dialects of Spanish such as Chicano Spanish, Mexican Spanish, Castellano, Andaluz, Gallego, Valenciano, Ladino, etc. Navajos also have various dialects of Navajo. There is Portuguese from Portugal and Portuguese from Brazil, and even English has many dialects such as Chicano English, Black English (Ebonics), Cowboy English, Queen's English, cockney, Indian (India) English, Apache English, California English, Southwestern English, Southern English, Boston Englishes, etc."
