English 201:    Masterpieces of Western Literature

Read:
Wilkie & Hurt: pp: 191-274 .  This reading assignment is twice as long as it was for the previous 2 assignments.  In each of the earlier units you hopefully stopped to look up characters or terms in your Dictionary, to sort out relationships among characters, to analyze what each character personifies, & to understand & recognize ancient Greek concepts, values, & themes in Homer.  Because you studied all of that previously, our reading for this unit can be more ambitious.
