The article presents a concise and comprehensive rationale for online facilitators. It acts very much as a quick guide or “Cliff’s Notes” that gives reminders of good practice in areas of course preparation, establishing and maintaining an effective online community, and facilitator responsibilities. It presents them in a readable and common sense way, implying these methods are “tried and tested”.
I thought that a major aspect of “Sheryl’s” difficulties came from lack of effective preparation before the course, unfamiliarity with course requirements and ineffective or inconsistent interventions and responses to learners. This resource is precisely the kind of thing she (and any facilitator) should have laminated and tacked up above her monitor.
