This image shows two examples of Deadmans Fugive Red. Deadmans Fugitive Red is similar to Deadmans Gray except that the exterior of the vessel (either jars or bowls) is covered with Fugitive Red pigment. Deadmans Fugtive Red bowls may be painted with black designs on the interior surface. The brightness of the Fugitive Red pigment varies and may be related to post-depositional conditions. Fugitive Red pigment can be washed off if the sherd gets wet and/or is scrubbed. This type dates from the Pueblo I-II time period.
