Tusayan White Ware sherd with carbon paint at 10X. Notice the distinctive blurred
edges characteristic of carbon paint. This example also shows the organic paint
soaked into the sherd rather than sitting on top of the sherd, so where there's
a chip, not only the paint but part of the surface is missing. The surface of
the paint has the same texture as the surface of the pottery.
