Darrell Kaufman directs the AAGL. He has studied amino acid racemization beginning with his dissertation research at the University of Colorado. He focuses on using amino acid racemization to determine the ages and paleotemperatures of Quaternary marine and lacustrine deposits, and he has contributed to studies led by scientists from around the world.

 

Katherine Whitacre (Cooper) manages the AAGL. She has a Master’s degree in Environmental and Soil Sciences from the University of Tennessee. Her research experience is in ecosystem ecology, climate change, and soil microbiology.
