Topic 2: Needs Assessment

Purpose: The purpose of this topic is to explore the need for health promotion interventions on the basis of the health problems and health risk behaviors of youth.

Objectives: After completing this topic, the student will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe the 8 components of Coordinated School Health (CSH).
  2. Define YRBS.
  3. Identify the health risk behaviors of youth nationally as well as locally (i.e. the students home state and community).
  4. Discuss changes in the health risk behaviors of youth nationally as well as locally (i.e. the students home state and community).
  5. Describe nationally as well as locally (i.e. the students home state and community) the major health problems of youth.
