Search Engine - A program that searches documents for specified keywords and returns a list of the documents where the keywords were found.
Portal (revamped search engine) - Search engines (e.g. AltaVista) that offer a broad array of resources and services (e.g., e-mail, forums, and on-line shopping malls) to attract and keep a larger audience.
Vortal - a vertical portal because of its narrow focus and depth in what if offers (e.g., e-hospitality.com).
