- Photography -- especially close-ups of interesting flowers, grasses,
leaves, etc.
- Makin' stuff -- sewing, basket and rug weaving, macrame, various other
crafts
- Cooking -- I enjoy the creative aspect (and, yes, I love good food). Over
the last few years I've learned to adapt "old favorite" recipes to use much
less fat, and I'm always on the prowl for new and interesting ways to prepare
healthful dishes. (I joined Weight Watchers in
August 1997, lost more than
70 pounds, and gained a brand new life -- healthy, strong, and happy. I
highly recommend this program to anybody who is struggling with weight
issues and would like to lose weight.)
- Walking and hiking in the forest around Flagstaff
- Jazzercise -- an
excellent workout and LOADS of fun!
- TV -- OK, I'll admit it: I'm a bit of a couch potato in the evenings.
But at least it's something that two tired old married folks can do
together, instead of each of us being buried in our own books or work or
web-surfing. Unproductive though it may be, it's our time to relax together,
catch up on each other's day, and laugh together at the silliness of
"must-see TV."
- Music -- Bruce Hornsby, Joni Mitchell, Santana, Linda Ronstadt, Enya,
Secret Garden, Melissa Etheridge, old James Taylor, old Elton John, Cream,
Mozart, Vivaldi, Beethoven ....
- Books -- Diana Gabaldon, Sue Grafton, Dick Francis, Dorothy Sayers,
Martha Grimes, Ellis Peters, Tony Hillerman, Lillian Jackson Braun,
Rita Mae Brown (and Sneaky Pie Brown), Robert Ludlum, Ken Follett, many
more
