Look for documents that protect the rights of children to a safe education. Some of these laws may appear to be in conflict with rights provided to youngsters with special needs.
As you look through documents and court cases, check on the responsibility of parents to pay for damages to school property. Look at the statutes that discuss bodily harm and what may occur if a student assaults another student or teacher. See if there is any limitation by age
Also look at some of the legal positions with respect to tobacco, drugs, dangerous objects and weapons.
What are your rights and responsibilities with respect to protecting yourself and other students? Make a T chart that represents some of your findings.
Now look to see if there are any court cases that support teacher rights. Note the new reauthorization that requires parents to pay for court costs if the court rules against them or determines that it is a frivolous case.
