In the Introduction page we considered the
3 contridictions about justice that Aeschylus presents:
AG claiming that the rape of Troy was righteous;
KLY claiming that the murder of her husband
was a masterpiece of justice;
Orestes executing his mother to avenge his
father.
Because they are so confused (if not corrupt), each of these leaders is
incapable of guiding or nurturing the city. What hope does Aeschylus
offer for the future of the polis & civilization? What is the
message in the last play, The Eumenides?
What do you make of the implied morality here?
