Office of Arts and Communication Technology
The Office of Arts and Communication Technology, 1993-96, a research and
service office representing all areas of the former College of Creative
and Communication Arts.
OACT is:
an advocate and a communication hub for computer-related development in the college
the center for development of CCCA WWW pages
the development office for computer labs, computer mediated communication,
  computer instruction sites and computer aided artistic production
a resource and information center for computer-related research and development
an advocate for faculty and curriculum development in arts and communication technology
an advocate for research and grant activity in arts and communication technology.
a link between the College of Creative and Communication Arts and other
  units on campus such as the Office of Instructional and Faculty Development,
  Network Technology Services, Computer Technology Services, Cline Library,
  research offices and all units involved in academic computing.
OACT developed the CCA Computer
Media Center, a facility dedicated to computer related instruction,
production, creativity and research in the arts and communication
fields. The Center is open many hours per week and is used as a
computer laboratory and classroom for computer art, music composition,
visual communication and experimental communication courses.
The primary interests of OACT are:
use of computer networks for instruction, research, and administration
development of faculty, program and course web pages
computer support for the traditional curriculum
technology curriculum in arts and communication fields
computer support for televised and large enrollment courses
distance learning on computer networks
instructional technology and new learning environments
presentation arts and technology
interdisciplinary projects in the arts and communication involving computer technology
preparing students for new careers in arts and communication technology
