Assignment:

Rewrite the following paragraphs completely, not merely improving the existing language, but providing new language whenever needed. Submit below. Each paragraph will be worth 25 points, and graded on the basis of the 4 Cs.

1. Per our earlier telephone conversation attached you will find a Xerox copy of our check #301 in payment of your invoice #2271. As you can see, this check pays the invoice you are saying is not paid. We therefore request that you acknowledge the invoice is paid.

2. These comments are expressed in reference to your letter of February 27, 1998, addressed to me at Hillyard Shipping, concerning the timing and amount of our rate increase to take effect June 1, 1998. It is our opinion in consultation with legal counsel that commission guideline #31-756A can in no wise be utilized to preclude us from our, constitutionally guaranteed right too raise our rates. Five years ago we had a similar rate increase without hearing anything from the commission so I'm sure we'll have no problem this time around.
