Process/Product Lesson Plan

There is so much content for students to learn! How can we add more? This questions is crucial. When we nest process and product
together in our planning, we can accomplish twice the good in a single lesson. This material gives a sample of a process and product
lesson plan, an example of a student evaluation, and a student self monitoring worksheet.
- Read the on-line material about the value of process in the classroom.
- Choose a content topic that you are about to teach your class, or one of your favorite lessons.
- Study the blocks that present a developmental picture of process skills. Click on the grade level you wish to use or currently
teach to see the overview of suggested process building blocks. The skills were choosen based on social, emotional and philosopical
growth patterns established in child development research.
- Now select an objective from among the seven process skill areas highlighted. Click on one of the process skills listed below to
view the developmental continum. Sometimes it takes a while to gain facility at dovetailing a process skill and a product
objective.
- Once you have choosen the process and product, write a functional lesson plan.
- Now develop an evaluation for the lesson. Click on evaluation to preview one example.
- Next, develop a student self monitoring devise. Click too see a sample.
