Mountain Toes Farm is located about 13 miles outside of Flagstaff, Arizona. It is a place of beauty throughout the seasons. I'm Sherry Markel and I live here with my husband Robin. The elevation of over 7,000 ft. makes a four season climate that is very different from the deserts in Arizona. We have one of the shortest growing seasons in the country.
We love animals and have quite a few around the house. In addition to the five dogs, two cats and three birds who share our house, chickens, llamas, a shetland pony, and a miniature donkey enrich our lives. A new Welsh pony has just joined us. One of our dogs is a Blue Merle Shetland Sheepdog. Angus works as a Delta Society Therapy Dog in the Paws To Read program. We volunteer a couple of hours a week at schools and the public library where children read to Angus. Mimi is a sable Sheltie who is now two years old and tiny only in size. Our other three dogs are Schipperkes. Ronnie (Ch. Chatelet's Our Little Secret) came to us from the Chatelet Kennel in Peru, Indiana. She is a retired champion and Queen of the Known Universe here. Classy AKA Bunny (Heartland's Classic Rose) came to us from Heartland Schipperkes Kennel in Fort Madison, Iowa. She is the shy darling of the bunch. Poquita is our youngest Schip and she is from Shalako Kennels in Toney, Alabama. Poquita is the one who keeps the older dogs stirred up as she whizzes from this to that when let out of her X-pen. Never a dull moment with a Schipperke pup. She earned her RN in Rally Obedience last fall.
This website is an introduction to our perspective of Flagstaff, our tiny farm and animals, and landscape/gardening. It includes some pages of pictures of our animals and scenery.
