Knowing what you do about assessment is important, but not sufficient. As a teacher you will be required to understand standard psychoeducational assessments. Sometimes, you may even need to explain the assessment results to a parent.

In this assignment, you will be presented with a profile of a child with a learning disability. You will be asked to identify the discrepancy(ies) and to cite the areas that the learning disability is effecting the child's educational performance.

Psychometric Summary for Alfred Q. Public (the brother of David and John), a young boy with a learning disability

You will also need to use a graph to plot the results of the educational assessments against your best estimate of the child's intellectual potential (ability). I have included a blank chart on a separate page located at:

Sample Plot Graph

Once you have completed your graph, answer the questions below.

1. What did you find as the best estimate of the child's intellectual abilities (IQ score)?

2. Where were the discrepancies between his abilities (IQ) and achievement (achievement battery scores) and processing tests?

3. Based on this, where does this child's learning disability appear to effect his educational performance?

4. Approximately how long did this assignment take to complete?
