Adding Sound

Digitize a Sound

  1. Make sure you have a microphone plugged into the computer or are on a computer with a built in microphone.
  2. Create a new button and when on the Actions menu select Play a sound.
  3. Keep your sound short (under 10 seconds). Click on Record to start recording into the mic (you should see a vertical green bar rise and fall as you are recording). If a box comes up asking you if you want to change the sound input settings, reply Yes and switch to the microphone input and click on Ok.
  4. Click on Stop to stop recording and click on Play to playback your sound. When done click on Ok.

Use Computer Speech

  1. Create a new button and when on the Actions menu select New Button Actions.
  2. From the list of New Button Actions, select BlabberMouth II.
  3. Click on Use this NBA then type the text you want to be spoken. Note: It is possible to have BlabberMouth speak text that has already been typed into a text object. In that case, make sure the text object has a name and then simply type the name of the text object in BlabberMouth instead of retyping the text.
  4. Set the speech rate, speech pitch, and voice and click Ok when done.

Use Sound from an Audio CD

  1. Put an audio CD in the computer.
  2. Set the sound input on the computer so that sound comes from the Internal CD and that Playthrough is checked. This is done with the Sound Control Panel.
  3. Create a new button and when on the Actions menu select New Button Actions.
  4. From the list of New Button Actions, select CDPlay.
  5. Click on Use this NBA then set the start and stop points of the audio CD you wish to play.
  6. Click on Keep when done.

Use the Built in Library of Sounds

  1. Create a new button and when on the Actions menu select Play a sound.
  2. Select on of the samples on the right of the screen or select a sound from the Disk Library.
  3. Click on Play to hear the selected sound and click on Ok when done.
