Special Effects

Add a Gradient
  1. From the Edit menu select Effects don't let go of the the button, and select Gradients.
  2. Select the colors and the type of gradient and click on Apply.
  3. If you want to create a gradient on only a portion of the card use the or tool to select the area where you want the gradient then go back to step #1.
  4. If you wish to apply a gradient to an image already on the card, use the tool to select the image and then go back to step #1.
  5. NOTE: Many other visual effects are available in HyperStudio such as emboss by going to the Edit menu, selecting Effects, and choosing HyperStudio Effects.

Add an Animation

  1. Create a new button and when on the Actions menu select Play animation...
  2. Decide how you will want to select the graphic, with either the or tool.
  3. Decide if you want the animated graphic to be an image that is already on the card or a graphic that's on a disk. If you want an image from your card click on From the screen otherwise click on Disk library.
  4. Now select the image you want to animate by dragging around it and letting go of the mouse button when done.
  5. After the image has been selected, create the animation by pressing and holding the mouse button and moving the image. When done let go of the button or press return.
  6. If desired, adjust the various settings in the Animation screen and click on OK, Done.
  7. If you have an animation that shows the original image on the card at the same time as the animated image and you wish to NOT show the original image, just erase the orginal image from the card and adjust the animation settings so that Show first frame of the animation is turned on.

Setup GhostWriter

  1. Create, position, and size a Text Object where you will want the GhostWriter text to appear. Make sure that the Text Object has a name.
  2. Create a new button and when on the Actions menu select New Button Actions.
  3. From the list of New Button Actions, select GhostWriter.
  4. Click on Use this NBA then type {name of Text Object} and then the text you want to appear.
  5. Click on OK then Done.
  6. NOTE: GhostWriter can automatically erase text or type faster and slower. To use these features, commands such as {erase}, {faster} or {slower} are needed. For example, to have GhostWriter pause before erasing, type {slowest} at the end of the text, then type a few blank spaces and then {erase}. All these commands are described in the Info: box on the right side of the New Button Action selected.

 RollCredits

  1. Create, position, size a Text Object where you will want the credits text to appear. Make sure that the Text Object has a name and is scrollable and that its size is much smaller than the amount of text to be displayed. If the Text Object is large enough to display all the text, there will be nothing to roll.
  2. Create a new button and when on the Actions menu select New Button Actions.
  3. From the list of New Button Actions, select RollCredits.
  4. Click on Use this NBA then type in the name of the Text Object.
  5. Click on OK then Done.
